You have to sneak across the room, then head to the right - there's a second alcove with a door in it. The door you want isn't the library door - it's on the same side of the room, but it's to the right of the library door. Straight ahead you can see the doors to the library - DON'T TAKE THAT DOOR! The trick to getting into the restricted section of the library is that you have to take the doorway to the Library Annex. When you enter the Reading Room it's time to sneak past the Prefects. Get your stink bombs and balloons ready and save your game right there because there are Prefects in the Reading Room.
